The Baglio Curatolo has an ancient tradition in the commercialization of spirits (since 1925) and has always been passionate about the production of excellent wines. This is made easier by the climatic conditions that Sicily offers and by the particular care that is given to the various stages of processing, including the selection of the land, the manual harvesting of grapes, the aging of wines in excellent wooden barrels and the bottling process.
Our passion and commitment are rewarded by our loyal consumers and by the awards achieved in many international competitions. This is a further motivation to keep working on our excellent wines.
The appearance of wine
The first impression of a wine is given by its appearance. In this stage, one observes the wine’s appearance to try to get an idea of its character. From a wine with an intense colour, one would expect an equally intense aroma; just as from a dense and liqueur-like wine one would expect a warm and full-bodied flavour.

The Vine’s Biological Cycle
The vine’s biological cycle of the vine comprises budding, flowering, fruit set, veraison, and ripening.
Budding, the opening of the buds, occurs in March. There are three types of buds: ready or summer buds that give rise only to non-productive branches (called laterals); the dormant or hibernating buds that will open the following year in spring to produce flower and fruit buds; the latent buds that remain inactive for many years and open only when necessary, i.e. after a frost, giving rise to unproductive branches called “polloni” (fat chickens). Flowering, i.e. the formation of flowers, occurs between late April and early June depending on the latitude. The flowers are hermaphrodite, and the pollination is anemophilous, that is, conducted by wind transport of the pollens.
